The newly appointed Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, announced a spirited Budget with a repeated emphasis on \u2018getting things done\u2019, echoing the recent election campaign. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A surprise mention in the Budget was the\ngovernment\u2019s announcement that it intends to introduce a levy to be funded by\nfirms subject to Money Laundering Regulations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doctors, judges and a good many\nbusinesses will be pleased by the changes to the pension annual allowance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Entrepreneurs\u2019 relief was nearly a goner.\nBut the Chancellor relented and just brought the lifetime limit down from \u00a310\nmillion to \u00a31 million. Maybe that\u2019s what the Treasury aimed to do all the time,\nbut it softened the blow by trailing rumours of its abolition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The increase in the NIC employment allowance\nmeans that many small businesses will not have to pay the first \u00a34,000 of their\nemployer\u2019s national insurance contributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The increase in the Junior ISA limit up\nto \u00a39,000 from April 2020 is great news for under 18s with prosperous and\ngenerous families and friends.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Publishers and readers should be\nwell-pleased by the abolition of VAT on electronic publications from 1 December\nthis year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

People who currently use cheap red diesel will lose this right from April 2022, unless they are in one of the exempt groups like farmers, rail and those who rely on the fuel for domestic heating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
