Barnsley-based Accountancy firm, Reed Smith, have merged into the SMH Group, enabling the well-established local firm to enhance its service offering while benefiting from the strength of the Yorkshire and Derbyshire-based professional services group.
The firm, now operating as SMH Reed Smith, will continue to serve clients from its Barnsley office, retaining its existing team and maintaining the exceptional service clients have come to expect since the firm was set up in 1996.
As part of the SMH Group, Reed Smith clients will gain access to an expanded range of business and personal financial services, including Wills and Probate, Financial Services, Commercial and Residential Mortgages, and Corporate Finance advice.
Incoming Partner at SMH Reed Smith, Ross Jordan comments: “Barnsley was an obvious choice for our next acquisition, bridging the gap between our existing offices and further strengthening our presence in South Yorkshire.
“This merger takes the total number of acquisitions SMH Group has completed to 10 since first welcoming Buxton based BullockWoodburn in 2018. Each step has been part of a carefully planned strategy to grow our services and provide even greater value to clients across all our offices. As well as being an excellent accountancy firm, Reed Smith specialises in the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO) scheme and are one of only nine recognised verifiers in the UK”.
Ross will join the Barnsley team at a partner level, alongside Jonathon Dickens, who leads operations across the group. Together with the existing staff, this enhanced leadership ensures a seamless transition and a wealth of resources to support local clients.
For Reed Smith, the merger represents a natural progression to safeguard the future of the firm, it’s staff and clients.
Stuart Reed and Lee Smith, who are continuing as a Directors of SMH Reed Smith add: “For some time, we’ve sought a business partner that reflects our culture and values. This partnership with SMH Group allows us to strategically develop our business, enhance our client offering, and ensure continuity of services for years to come. We are confident this merger is in the best interests of both our clients and our team.”
With this merger, SMH Reed Smith clients can look forward to accessing a complete range of financial solutions for personal, family, and business interests.
